The main objective of this safety policy is to enhance the safety culture in PIEAS for reducing the risks to the University community (including Staff, Faculty and Students), and the Environment. The policy aims to address all facets of safety that include fire safety, health safety, occupational safety, industrial safety and the environmental safety. It also aims to highlight suitable steps for awareness raising of the staff, faculty, and students undertake their assignments/activities while protecting themselves, the co-workers, equipment/facility and the environment. We believe that the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff are of the greatest importance.
A new division namely PIEAS Safety Division (PSD) has been constituted at PIEAS vide O.M. No. 43/2017, dated 10-10-2017. The division consists of an HoD, a Secretary and other suitable persons/heads of divisions at PIEAS. The division administers and implements the occupational health and safety policies and procedures promulgated by the University Authorities. It has been ensured that the specialization of the Members of the division encompass all safety related areas such as radiation safety, biological safety, chemical and laboratory safety, occupational/workplace safety and health and environmental safety.
The safety programs at PIEAS encompass the following major elements. The success of our efforts depends on all of us working together and accepting self-responsibility for our safety and that of our co-workers. No job is so important and no service is so urgent to undertake jeopardizing Safety.
