Mr. Syed Ahmad Ali, MS DMME 2012-14, has secured 2nd position in the 29th National Chess Championship 2014. Syed Ahmad Ali represented HEC in the
championship on the basis of his performance in Intervarsity Chess Championship
2013-14 while representing PIEAS. It is also important to note that Ahmed Ali remained unbeaten in the tournamnet.
29th National Chess Championship
Pakistan’s top ranked players are participating in the Championship including
International Masters Mahmood Lodhi and Shahzad Mirza. Other title holders including
CM Anwar Qureshi, and almost all National Masters are also in the competition as
there will also be a selection of top 4 players to represent Pakistan. The selected
players shall be a part of World Chess Olympiads which are going to be held at
Tromso, Norway in August 2014.
29th National Chess Championship 2014
Today many interesting games were played in fifth round of National Chess
Championship when many young players achieved good results against the top seeded
players. International Master and defending National Champion Mahmood Lodhi has to
be content with a draw against his young opponent Syed Ahmad Ali. Lodhi had a better
position in the later stages of the game but Ahmad Ali managed to achieve the draw.
