The Academic Programmes

Department of Chemical Engineering is offering the following academic programs presently.

	MS Process Engineering
	MS Mineral Resource Engineering
	PhD Chemical Engineering

The program of MS Process Engineering was initiated in 2002. Since then the department has produced more that 300 Process Engineers. The PhD in Chemical Engineering program offers cross disciplinary cutting edge research opportunities to young researchers with background of engineering.

The program of MS Mineral Resource Engineering was initiated in 2015 on demand from Pakistani industry. To fulfill the needs of a diverse industry, and for realization of indigenization and self-reliance, trained manpower is produced from this program which admits students from different backgrounds such as Mining/Chemical/Geological Engineering and Chemistry/Geophysics/Geology. By 2017, around 20 graduates have passed out from this program and are serving the industry.

Course Structure

For the programs of Masters in Process and Mineral Resource Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering offers a wide range of core and optional course. In recent reformulation of course structures, course work of MS Process Engineering and Mineral Resource Engineering has been brought in line with the recommendations of Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Accordingly, a minimum of 25 credit hours of course work is required to earn MS degree in Process and Mineral Resource Engineering.

In addition to coursework, MS thesis research of 12 credit hours (two semesters) is mandatory for MS Process Engineering students. For MS Mineral Resource Engineering 6 credit hours of Industrial Attachment and 6 credit hours of thesis research are compulsory.
