The Department has the following laboratories encompassing and enriching the range of academic disciplines in which it has qualified faculty: A brief introduction to the facilities in each laboratory is presented in the following paragraphs:
Digital Control (DC) Laboratory
This laboratory is dedicated to experiments in real time digital control systems and Ph.D. research projects. The experiments include real time implementation of various control algorithms on indigenously developed systems. Moreover in addition to the conventional microprocessors and microcontroller based control hardware, this lab is also equipped with most advanced Siemens PLCs and DSP processors based control cards.
Robotics and Automation (RA) Laboratory
This lab has been established recently. The research focus of this lab is development of innovative robotic platforms and their real time control systems. Various research projects like humanoid robotic arm, humanoid head, mobile robots and motion control system for CNC retrofit system are in development phases. This lab is also equipped with a 6 DOF, MELFA manipulator by Mitsubishi for demonstrating laboratory experiments and for research activities.
Applied Electronics (AE) Laboratory
Applied Electronics lab provides development facilities in the field of Instrumentation, Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Power Electronics, PCB Design, Signal Analysis, and Applied Control. The major research includes high performance industrial drives, high performance real time controls systems, image acquisition and processing systems. This lab is equipped with latest FPGA kits for realizing digital circuits on chip.
Signal and Image Processing (SIP) Laboratory
This laboratory provides an up to date simulation environment for researchers in the areas of image processing, computer vision, computer graphics, speech processing, statistical signal processing, and machine learning. The students are engaged in the projects related to theories, algorithms and applications of signal, image and video processing.
